This past June long weekend Di and I created a gorgeous blush pink and golddessert table for beautiful baby Victoria's christening.
Blush pink and gold is my new favourite colour palette, sure it's been popping up for a while now, but I just love it, if I had my time over and was getting married again (to my same wonderful husband, of course!) I would so choose blush pink and gold as my colour scheme......it's just sooooo pretty!
The christening was held at Le Montage at Lilyfield. As the guests enjoyed a 3 course luncheon we decided to keep the dessert table to treats that could be taken home and savoured later! The gorgeous birdcage cake created by the uber talented Lorinda Seto of Cakes by Lorinda was served as part of a 3 tier dessert platter and other treats on our table included personalised Lindt chocolate bars, vanilla sugar cookies, vanilla cupcakes, macarons and sweet little lolly bags.
Our client really wanted a bird cage cake and Di and I weren't sure how we would incorporate this into our overall design and look for the table. We turned to the fabulous Lorinda of Cakes by Lorinda to help us achieve a pretty birdcage cake with a modern edge that would fit in with our design and it looked fabulous. Lorinda's attention to detail is second to none, she is meticulous and has a wonderful eye for design and for interpreting a brief. We could not have been happier with the cake she created.
A big part of the table was the beautiful floral arrangements and yep, you guessed it, that meant a very early morning trip to the flower market. The flower market is always beautiful, no matter when you visit, but at this time of year a lot of the most beautiful blooms are either not available or prohibitively spensive! ie, peonies were $25 - $28 for 5 stems.....MARKET PRICE!.......yikes!
We did however bring together a beautiful selection of blush pink Roses, cream Roses, mini green Hydrangea (pricey at this time of year, but well worth it), Hypericum Berries (which just had the most beautiful pink blush to them), Carnations, Dusty Miller, Stock and Lysianthus.
Di and I also provided pretty floral table decorations with a giant round pink balloon and glittery gold ribbon.
Each arrangement sat atop a custom linen covered riser box with pretty blush pink lace detailing.
I would have removed those pesky table numbers, but I was so rushed to get some photos when it was all finished that I just didn't have time, so please excuse the lack of "styling" for the pics.
We did cute and sparkly little lolly bags for the table which contained milk buds, pink sour ears, mini marshmallows, gold sixlets, mini pink jelly beans, pink bon bons, mini white jelly beans and tiny little round pink lollipops.....sweet treats to enjoy later.
Di hand glittered and stamped all of the muslin bags and they were presented on a gold glitter edged platter.
Adam at Baked Patisserie makes the most divine macarons and we once again turned to him to provide us with his delectable treats for our table. Vanilla macarons which we dusted with edible gold shimmer.
Our vanilla cupcakes continue to be a hit with our tables.......we only use whole ingredients and they are just so yummy......one guest commented that "they just taste real" what better compliment could you ask for.
Di's signature vanilla sugar cookies were once again admired and devoured.
The beautiful blush and gold tassle garland was supplied by Tuck & Bonte.
When Di and I were putting all the floral arrangements together I said to her "this is just like doing a wedding" as we had 12 table arrangements to do and four hand tied bouquets for the dessert table. On looking at the dessert table I thought, what a great idea for a wedding table, the four floral arrangements could be used to display the bridal bouquets (lets face it they usually end up just lying down on the bridal table getting squashed!) then you've got your wedding cake and all you need to do is add a few extra treats and you've got a fabulous dessert table showcasing your wedding cake and flowers.
The gold "vases" that we used for the flowers were just large glass jars spray painted gold on the inside.
