and
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We hope 2012 is good to you, brings you so much happiness and sees dreams realised!
Here's a little peak at our Christmas celebrations!
Our little Christmas entry vignette
On Christmas Eve Santa comes round on the local fire truck.....I have such fond memories of this from when I was a child. Children excitedly listen for the whoop whoop of the horn followed by the whirr of the fire truck's siren, to let them know that Santa is on his way.
Santa throws lollies to the children and the kids love getting a "spray" from the fire hoses on the truck......ahhh Christmas has arrived!
Our Christmas Tree 2011
I always insist on a "Real" Tree for Christmas, I always had one growing up.....you just can't beat that real Christmas Tree smell.
It has become a bit of a family tradition for ME to go and choose the Christmas tree. We usually get our tree two weeks before Christmas and as the children's activities are yet to have finished for the year, it is always a bit of a rush and effort to go and get it and also fit in all the other commitments that we have.
I don't mind getting up early so alas it's left to me! This year I was the first one there. I was dismayed to see only about 30 trees to choose from.....so I asked if another delivery was on it's way....sure enough there was another delivery due so, me being me (always on the hunt for the perfect tree) I waited and got the tree that I wanted!
And of course the tree was decorated by our 6 year old and 2 year old with only a tiny bit of help from me (just for the HIGH decorations). Our Angel for the top of the tree is made from a polystyrene cup and gold doily wings.......I LOVE it and it will be our Angel till if falls apart because is was made by one of my Angels!
My two bubbas "First Christmas" decorations.
Christmas Morning.....
and gift opening is always a little frenzied!
Notice the gate locking off the tree... this is not entirely unintentional...you see the gate blocks off a staircase, but it also makes the perfect spot for the Christmas tree.....to keep little 2 year old from pulling the whole thing over on himself.......I'm hoping that next year I can position the tree in a nice open area.....we'll see!
What Christmas table is complete without Gardenias and a bit of Christmas Bush. I love having my home filled with Gardenias at Christmas time - they remind me of Summer and luckily I have a plentiful supply. The Christmas bush however, I don't have in my garden but I am not above a bit of night stalking to pinch some......shhhhhhhhhh!
So that wraps up Christmas and 2011 for us.
Here's to exciting times ahead.
WISHING YOU A FABULOUS NEW YEAR!
